Inspired by the Palmolive Aquarium hand soaps of the early-2000s, which Pašic was obsessed with as a child. They looked like they contained their own little world in there. Pašic depicts this world with all the shiny, rich colours she daydreamed in her frequent escapes from reality. Hena Pašic views art as world-building. She uses the process of creating her artworks to escape the challenging and often confusing world around her and to indulge her child self's fascinations and daydreams. Her work draws on early-2000s toys, pop culture, social media, technology, and design trends, in a statement of her deep connection with her child self. Through capturing a memory that is still so vivid to her, Aquarium Hand Soap explores nostalgia, childhood imagination, and the strange relationship between the past, present, and future.
